 Project Introduction

Click here to see a Powerpoint Presentation introducing the project!

The idea to form a district middle years network arose as a result of the first planning meeting for the Glen Innes Linkages project in 2000 (I think it was Dianne’s idea). Since Mark and I have been involved with Middle School concepts since 1998, along with many of our colleagues from Glen Innes Public, Di asked us to be involved.

A planning day for this project was held at Cooramah Aboriginal Centre, Glen Innes, on the 30th of November, 2000, at which the date for our first official meeting was set – Thursday 15th February 2001. This meeting was very well received, with about 25 teachers and district office personnel attending, and showing the interest that this field seems to generate. It was a very good start to our group, and we hope that you also will become involved and take part in what is a very exciting initiative.

We hope merely to set the ball rolling by providing some reading material in the early stages, and giving the project some direction. Once that is done, however, we hope that there will be no shortage of people to participate in this district-wide sharing of information and strategies.

The establishment of this portion of the District Office website is just the beginning. We hope to do most of our communications via e-mail, but still to have regular meetings (at least one per term) and also to arrange mini-conferences and other T&D opportunities as they become available.

Please regard this as a personal invitation to become part of this group – we don’t claim to be experts, and your input will be most welcome!

 Cheers, Stafford.
