Aboriginal Education 

Consultancy Support

    The consultant for Aboriginal Education is available to assist schools to better meet the needs of aboriginal students. The focus is on Aboriginal Education Policy and curriculum implementation.

Aboriginal Community Liaison

    Toni Widders is the aboriginal community liaison officer is based at the Armidale Office. Pam is available to assist schools and aboriginal communities to work better together. Toni has a significant role in working with ASSPA committees, local and regional Aboriginal Education Consultative Croups and with various government agencies.

District Aboriginal Education Reference Committee

    This representative committee includes ASSPA, AECG, primary and secondary principals a well as district office staff. The committee advises the District Superintdent on strategic local approaches to Aboriginal Education. This committee (contact Roberta Ayers, ph 6776 4100) recommends allocations of:

         Aboriginal Literacy Program

         Aboriginal Cultural(Reconciliation/Artist-in-Residence)

         Aboriginal Education Policy T & D         

          Aboriginal Attendance,Retention and Intervention

           

Aboriginal Education Policy Implementation Support

    Last year schools were assisted to implement the Aboriginal Education Policy (Modules 1-3 of the training package). This year schools will be forther assisted to implment Modules 4-6 of the Training Package. Look out for separate information about this initiative.

Anaiwan Enrichment Project

    This pilot project was highly successful in 1999 and in 2000.
