 Student Services/Equity 

Learning Support

 District Learning Support Team

    This team (LD Coordinator, Special Education Consultant, Intinerant Teacher (Integration), Early Learning Program Coordinator, Student Services Coordinator and District Guidance Officer) meets regularly to ensure coordinated and equitable support to schools in the District. The team is coordinating the Oral Reading Fluency Assessment initiative and seeks to assist schools develop functional Learning Support Teams.

Assistant Principal (Learning Difficulties)

    Robyn Bradford is the District’s Learning Difficulties Coordinator and can advise schools on departmental policy and best practice in the supporting students with learning difficulties. Robyn also provides a professional development service to the District’s Support Teachers (Learning Difficulties).

Learning Difficulties Support Team/Centre

    This team/centre replaces the NEED Centre. The team is led by the APLD and includes a speech designated LD teacher. The team/centre maintains an interagency approach to assessment and program planning for students in primary school with severe Learning Difficulties.The team uses the input of special educators, a speech pathologist, an occupational therapist an educational psychologist and staff from the University of New England. Referral to this team is through your school counsellor. 

Support Teachers (Learning Difficulties)

    STLD’s are appointed to secondary schools on a formula basis. In primary schools STLDs are allocated on the basis of school population and an assessment of need.

Support Class (Language)

    The Support Class (Language) is a full-time program, which operates at Armidale City Public School and caters for students (k-2) within the average or above average range of intelligence who have a language disorder. Referral is through your school counsellor.

Support Class (Intensive Reading)

    The Support Class (Intensive Reading) as a sessional program based at Armidale City Public School catering for students in Years 3-6 who have severe difficulties in reading.
