Itinerant Support Teacher (Integration/Transition)

Suzanna Hoeg-Staun is our District’s Support Teacher (Integration/Transition) and is available to support students with disabilities enrolled in regular classes under the Funding Support 2001 Program. Suzanne’s focus is on programming and in-class support and review of student progress.

Technology and Equipment Fund

Robyn O'Neill recommends access to these funds which are allocated by a State panel. If you have students with a disability whose access to curriculum is dependent upon specialised equipment, discuss your needs with Robyn.

Itinerant Teachers (Vision and Hearing Impairment)

Graham Fell and Lorraine Watson are our district’s two itinerant teachers (visual impairment). Heather White, Mary Murison and Heather Russell our district’s itinerant teachers (hearing impairment). These specialist teachers have a caseload of eligible students and have a programming and in-class support role.

Under Funding Support 2001 the District supports over 200 students with disabilities in regular classes. These funds are used mainly to provide additional teacher time (for consultation and program modification) or teacher’s aide (special) support.

Early Learning Program Coordinator

Jacqui Michael is the inter-district Early Learning Program Coordinator. Jacqui facilitates the implementation of the Early Learning Program (a series of training modules for teachers or parents) and the Transition to School Guidelines. This role ensures better planning and provision for young students with disabilities, learning difficulties or behaviour problems.

Support Classes (Early Intervention, Intellectual Disabilities, Hearing)

There are two early intervention classes, and 16 support classes for students with mild (IM), moderate (IO) or severe (IS) intellectual disabilities in the District.
